Retrospective Stages
July 23, 2024
Updated :
RetroTeam has 4 stages.
- Capture: write comments and post them.
- Group: group similar comments and add tags.
- Vote : vote on comments to narrow down what you will discuss in the next stage.
- Actions : discuss the most voted grouping or comments with your team to create action items, set due date , and assign member.
Stage 1: Capture Stage
The purpose of this step is to allow participants to write comments and post them through the different columns of your board.

Stage 2: Group
This step allows you to group similar comments and add tags.
To make your facilitation job easier, RetroTeam will automatically suggest groups of comments - only if our AI detects comments that deal with similar subjects.
For each group suggestion, you can accept the grouping by clicking on the ✔️ icon or refuse the proposed grouping by clicking on ❌.
Ai Grouping
Drag and Drop Grouping
You can also create a group by dragging a comment on another one to create a group. You can then click on the group to display all the comments and add Tags

Stage 3: Vote
Vote on comments to narrow down the number of items you would like to discuss in the next phase.
Each participant has a fixed amount of votes they can make for a comment or group. The number of votes can easily be changed if needed by updating the vote settings. Note that nobody can see the other's votes - not even the Facilitator.
- Vote Setting
- Add vote for each comment or group

Stage 4: Actions
Discuss the most voted grouping or comments with your team to create action items. Assign an owner to each action item, and provide a short and clear description so everyone can understand how to resolve their action items.
- Filter by template sections you want to discuss
- Create action items by setting status (Todo, In-progress, Done), assigning users, and set a due date

Close Retrospective and View Report
Once you are done with your retrospective, you can close the retrospective and view you reports in PDF format. You can share this via email, Slack, Microsoft Teams and so forth. We also use our Ai to show Ai Insights - Patterns / Actions where we identify the Patterns and Trends as well as give Advice for Improving the Team and Project.
